Colored sketches based off of the fantasy comic I'm working on.

A lot of these sketches will be concepts- like creatures, characters, etc. Some of these may appear in the comic proper and some may not. Also, if they appear in the comic, they may or may not appear different from the sketches.

These are Centaurs. Obviously, they look a little different from the traditional Centaurs. Instead of a horse-lower half they have a… creature thing. Centaurs are mostly located to the East in the country of Fanorah and certain areas of Zolmach and Northern Gesmenthia. The Centaurs used to be the seat of a vast empire in the East and while that empire has crumbled, the race still has a strong presence in certain parts of the East.

They’re an extremely rigid, disciplined race with a strong cultural emphasis on military prowess. Most centaurs grow up with some sort of military training, even during peacetime. A lot in a Centaur’s lifestyle is focused on honing your abilities, mind and physical prowess to be the best soldier you can.

Centaurs value honor, strength, courage, and chivalry. They feel the strong have a duty to protect the weak and authority should be respected. They feel everyone has a place within the fabric of society and you need to perform your duty to the best of your abilities.

Centaurs are naturally powerful beings. Their animal half not only boast sharp, deadly claws, but also the strength of a tiger, speed and endurance unmatched by most any other race. They do have a notable weak point- that being their back. Due to their unusual physical structure and elongated backs they are very much prone to back problems later in life. The intersection between their humanoid and animal half is especially problematic, in that injury in that area can carry a serious risk of paralysis.
